The Change indeed for education

Rethinking the learning paradigm: Students participate in a collaborative classroom session. Educational researchers stress that genuine reform in India must prioritize critical evaluation and practical engagement over traditional rote memorization.

A Stone is worthless matter with mass unless it has one of two qualities: its background or its value. If it doesn’t have a family status, a normal stone can attain a precious or prestigious status, after a smith shapes the stones to statue, which becomes a form of craft. Students are like stones; some may have prestigious status even before birth, while others don’t and must earn it through hard work. Not every student is born a prodigy, but the education system of every country must contribute in an unbiased way; in return, the country will definitely get glory because of the student. India has to contribute a lot, as it is one of the most populous countries in the world, which certainly makes the population of students enormous; most of the students are dependent on the education system. As one among them, I am now proposing how the system could lead students to a nation-building contribution through education beyond the academic curriculum.

The change needs to be done and why

The future of the education system in India must bring a lot of changes. I list some of my suggestions with strong and polite arguments to support them. To attain the status of a well-developed nation, India not only needs the contribution of politicians and government administrative officers, but the students’ contribution plays a major role in the progress of development, right?

I’m saying this not because of the number of students, but because they can even attain that place in the future. So, those students need to be aware in terms of rational thinking, humanity, and, most importantly, politics and constitutional awareness. Our education is just one of the best, not the only best, in the world. Apart from two or three languages, Science and literature students need to be aware of the above-stated areas to become some of the noblest individuals in contributing to the nation's development.

From my perspective, these are the areas of education that need to be discussed and preached among the students beyond academics. Lots of students are making fatal decisions even after a single failure; this system must make the students strong enough to face those failures. Here, the system refers to teachers and professors because they are the ones spending a lot of time with the students, even more than parents.

Teachers need to value and respect the state of students and need to be more supportive compared to the parents. That doesn’t mean that every responsibility is on the shoulders of the teachers; of course, the parents must also take up another huge role of making the students feel comfortable when they are in deep water, or at least they need to make their child strong in those instances.

From my very own experience and a blessing from above, I’ve had both supportive teachers and parents who have made me act according to the situation I am in, but that is not enough for me; I expect that each and everyone deserve these kind of practice to be better one right. This may be a daydream, but everyone needs this. I’m saying this because I may contribute a lot to this country tomorrow for its progress, but don’t I need hands to help me out? If not me, maybe some other person who may contribute more than the current leaders' contribution; doesn’t he deserve a helping hand?

Going back to political and constitutional awareness, the students must be aware of these terms of knowledge; that’s because they simply need to, because they should; it is the fundamental duty (an unwritten law that needs to be followed, which isn’t) of each student to support any form of governmental body (Monarchy, Democracy, Dictatorship, etc.). Also, they can support whichever political party they need, but they need to follow or spread the politics that stand with commoners and most people rather than being attracted either towards the majority or towards the minority community of people.

That is only because each and every kind of political movement is actually meant for everybody, not for a certain group of people. I can understand what you may think: that everyone in a group can be satisfied with one single point. Yes, I too accept your point, but I am stating the above in the sense that it means to follow and spread a politics that doesn’t at least affect the commoners and take their lives.

In terms of Constitutional means that every individual, not only the students (including students), must be aware of the basic constitutional amendments and fundamental rights like the Right to Equality, Right to Freedom, Right against Exploitation, Right to Freedom of Religion, Cultural and Educational Rights, and Right to Constitutional Remedies. These rights must not be abrogated from any individual, regardless of age of the individual. This must be known to every student, as they have a very huge responsibility in their hands in contributing to the progress of our Country.

These suggestions may seem impossible, but with proper coordination from every group, like the students, teachers, parents, and ultimately a society that supports all these changes in a very positive and welcoming way. After all the learning processes from the above points, there is an ultimate need for a proper evaluation process, which needs to be done in the most unbiased way possible. We know that as students, we won’t even write our names to avoid bias in the evaluation process, but the written exam is an even more biased evaluation process.

The main reason behind the statement that says “an exam is an even more biased evaluation process” is that I belong to the state of Tamil Nadu, where there is a public exam for 12th and 10th class students; they do not even mention their names, but when looking into the evaluation process, the evaluators themselves set certain keywords for specific marks, regardless of what has been written as the answers; the marks are awarded if the keywords are present. Here, this is absolute bias, right?

Of course, the teachers need to evaluate a heap of answer sheets, but to make the work sophisticated, do we have to sacrifice the innovative and self-learned answers provided by the students? I’m degrading the system, but to produce a handful of quality students, the teachers can sweat some more, right? Those innovative answers are not just answers; they can even lead to a better future, whereas the same brain can produce more innovative ideas that could contribute to the nation-building process.

Each system needs drastic change within itself to produce a better outcome for people who are dependent on the system. The education system also comes under that category, but the saddest truth is that the people (students, teaching staff) could not feel a visual change. With all my heart, I accept that the change is a slow process, but we can even feel each step of the snail, right? The education system needs to make quicker decisions as the student population is increasing at a greater velocity, so to provide a better quality of education, the officials of the educational system can take the above statements as recommendations or even as self-evaluating points to evolve the system in ways where the contributing to the country, building innovating minds and play roles beyond the educational curriculum.
